Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is an American television journalist anchor and commentator for NBC News based in Washington D.C. Growing up with her family in New York City, Mitchell earned a BA in English literature at the University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her career as a journalist at KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she joined CBS-affiliated WDVM-TV located in Washington DC (then WTOP). The following year, she was an general reporter at NBC News in Washington. In 1981 began covering the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was promoted to Chief White House correspondent in 1992 and chief foreign affairs correspondent for NBC News in 1994. Mitchell has been as a guest on TV news show Meet the Press as a panelist as well as host. Mitchell participated on a panel during the 1988 debates between George Bush & Michael Dukakis. Mitchell is the wife of Alan Greenspan, former Chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in 2005 by the John F. Kennedy School of Government for outstanding achievement in the field of journalism. In 2004, in 2004, the Radio-Television News Directors Association gave Mitchell the Leonard Zeidenberg Award to recognize of her efforts to protect First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell began covering at the White House for NBC News from 1981 to 1988 throughout both Ronald Reagan's presidency. Mitchell covered a range of important stories like arms control the budget tax reform, and the Iran-contra scandal. Mitchell was frequently together with the president Reagan for summits together with Mikhail Gorbachev and other world heads.
